Cheri Ellefson-Terhune: General Chair Elect

Cheri Ellefson-Terhune moved to Muncie to pursue a communications position at the Ball State Alumni Center in early 2009. In 2010, she began her full-time assistantship as a Master’s candidate with the Ball State Sociology department. She is Treasurer and Secretary for Ball State’s Sociology National Honor Society (AKD). Cheri currently teaches Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies at BSU, and plans to graduate this spring. Her future plans include teaching and applying to Ph.D. programs.

Born in Wisconsin, her family traveled across the Midwest until settling into east Indianapolis when she was nine. Cheri earned her journalism degree at Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana, in 2005, where she served as Franklin’s newspaper editor in-chief and house manager for Delta Delta Delta. Professionally, she began her career at the Johnson County United Way office as a communications coordinator, and later advanced to Director of Communications at the National Dart Association in Indianapolis. She also wrote several freelance newspaper, magazine, and website articles.

Since settling to Muncie, Cheri became involved with the Muncie Young Professionals and enjoys attending the community, social, leadership and networking events. She currently serves on the MYP Steering Committee as the General Chair-Elect. Her volunteer work in Muncie also includes mentoring a “little” in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware Country organization since 2009.

In her free time, Cheri trains for the Indianapolis mini, devours books on the weekends, and paints her new home near the Ball State campus purchased with her husband.

Kristen Bitzegaio: General Chair

Kristen is a native Hoosier, originally from a small town near Lafayette. She moved to Muncie in 2003 to attend Ball State University, and made it her permanent home after getting married and graduating with her degree in public relations. Kristen is the outreach coordinator for Indiana Public Radio, where she enjoys engaging the community and using the power of public radio to promote nonprofit organizations. She attended her first MYP event in 2009, and has been hooked ever since. Kristen is also active with Women in Business Unlimited and Tri Kappa, and loves to read and spend time with her young and growing family.

Mandi Wise: Records Chair

Mandi Wise Evans is a Muncie native. While she was born, raised and attended college in Muncie, she spent a few years living in Cincinnati, only to recently return to her hometown. Mandi is a graduate of Ball State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies and minors in Special Education, Deaf Education and Speech Pathology. She earned her Master’s Degree in Executive Human Resource Development from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH.

Professionally, Mandi is employed as the Director of Membership Services at Delta Zeta National Headquarters located in Oxford, OH. She is fortunate to have the opportunity to telecommute allowing her to become involved in activities within and among the Muncie community. Professionally Mandi is a member of the Association of Fraternity and Sorority Advisors (AFA) and the Fraternity Executives Association (FEA). She has served on the Board of Directors for Hazing Prevention.Org, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending hazing practices throughout college campuses. Currently Mandi volunteers as a member of the Campus Division for the Circle of Sisterhood, an organization dedicated to removing educational barriers for girls and women, uplifting them from poverty and oppression.

While living in Cincinnati Mandi’s community involvement included membership in the Junior Chamber International (JCI) where she served as the Vice President of Membership, President and Chairman of the Board. Since returning to Muncie, Mandi became immediately involved with the Muncie Young Professionals and enjoys attending the community, social, leadership and networking events that MYP provides. She currently serves on the MYP Steering Committee as the Archives Chair. Her volunteer work in Muncie also includes participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk-Muncie event, Feed My Sheep and the Women Build Project with Habitat for Humanity.

In her free time Mandi enjoys working out, shopping, traveling, Cincinnati Reds baseball, Ball State Athletics and spending time with her friends and family. Mandi and her husband Sam reside in Muncie along with their three cats and yellow lab, Goldi.

Jill Lockhart: Programs Chair
Jill became involved with MYP in 2011 by volunteering for and attending MYP events. Looking for a way to meet fellow Muncie young professionals and be involved in Muncie proved to rewarding in more ways than one. Jill is currently the Marketing Manager for a MidWest Homes for Pets which she landed through a contact with MYP. Jill is a graduate of Ohio State University, with a B.A. in Strategic Communication. When not attending MYP events or designing pet beds, you can find her spending time with her two year old nephew or outside enjoying the beautiful Indiana weather.

Get Involved in Delaware County!

Project Leadership of Delware county is looking for young professionals to get involved and make a positive impact on teens in the community.

Project Leadership offers high school students a mentoring program designed to help them succeed in school and better prepare for post secondary education. Volunteers from our community provide support, encouragement, and a positive role model for students from low income families. Because the kids in our program are all Twenty-first Century Scholars, they have the financial means to earn a post secondary degree or certificate.

All kids involved are in the Twenty-first Century Scholars and they have the financial means to earn a post secondary degree or certificate. To take advantage of this opportunity, however, many need the additional support of a concerned adult.

Muncie Young Professional’s presents the ProLunch Speaker Series!

Join fellow young pro’s every third Friday to hear a group of great speakers, network with fellow professionals and enjoy a great lunch!

The series kicks off with key speaker Peggy Cenova, Regional Director at East Central Indiana Small Business Devlopment Center.

The Indiana SBDC specializes in providing educational, training, reviews, planning, counseling and market research services to existing and prospective small business owners and managers. The ISBDC provides assistance to entrepreneurs at every stage of business development. Clients range from individuals who need assistance in deciding if self-employment is right for them to business owners looking to expand overseas. ISBDC Business Advisors have access to nationally recognized research tools in order to help clients make calculated business decisions.

Looking for a unique way to volunteer and give back to the community?

Julie McGee of Project Leadership Delaware County will be at the lunch to speak to potential volunteers.

Steph Wiechmann: Membership Chair

Steph is a native of Illinois and escaped the Midwest for a college adventure at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. While studying for a degree in print journalism, she found her real passion for public radio. She moved to Muncie in 2007 to begin work for Indiana Public Radio, where she is a reporter and producer, and hosts “All Things Considered” in the afternoons. In the community, Steph serves on the Ball State University Freshman Common Reader Book Selection Committee. When not on-air or attending MYP events, she can usually be found browsing the stacks at the local libraries.
